Black Bra

Brassieres or “bras” only took on its modern form in the early part of the 18th century. Yet, even up to this day continuing debates, in relation to cultural differences as well the feminist perspective of wearing a pair of bras, are still very much alive.

For many centuries, brassieres have been stereotyped as an item of glamour, seduction, and even oppression. However, many women around the world would agree that the purpose of brassieres serve more than the stereotyped notion. Rather, many women resort to wearing brassieres to prevent the effects of aging on the breasts, and as a supportive garment.

Today, brassieres may have gotten close to the stereotyped notion due to the emerging sexy styles and colors, and may be considered an object of seduction nonetheless. The black bra is no exception. A sexy black bra is notorious for the sensuality it recreates or at least brings upon the wearer.

What Color Psychology Says About Black Bras

Before getting to that, let’s first disclose the psychology behind the color black. Black is the absence of light and, thus, of colors (light is made of up of all colors, remember?). The color black can symbolize many things under the “dark” theme but it may also represent stylishness and timeless appeal. The color further represents sexuality, formality, elegance, and sophistication as far as fashion is concerned.

Fashion experts also believe that wearing black garments, including undergarments like black bras, are a symbol of submission to men but black bras can also be overpowering. For women endowed with extra full breasts, a black bra can make them appear thinner. It is for this reason that black bras for plus size women are so popular in plus sizes. As you would have noticed, most bras in the plus sizes are in the color black.

There is a lot of significance for the black bra and why it is black in the first place. Several manufacturers take consideration of the black lace bra for its seductive effect, and besides, lace is a very feminine material. In addition to that, black bra can also stand alone without laces due to its overpowering effect, mystery, and elegance.

A Practical Color

However, besides the psychological effect of black bra there is some practicality behind the color. For one, dirt or stain is not visible on a black bra so it will remain looking brand new for months or even years compared with other colors that can fade, especially if made of inferior materials.

Black bras can also serve the purpose of neutral colors – they can be concealed under any shirt color depending on the thickness or thinness of a shirt’s material. Even neutral-colored brassieres are visible under clothing of light material. Black bras also look neat and elegant even when made visible under a shirt, and they do look sexy under there.

However, strictly speaking from the point of view of fashion experts, any bra should not be allowed to become visible or must at all times be concealed for neatness’ sake. Hence, if you’re fond of showing off those straps under your spaghetti straps it’s time you alter this fashion sense unless you’re just in your room in a humid, summer weather. Otherwise, just hang those pairs of brassieres in your closet and sleep without them.

Wearing bras have its benefits but it is also sometimes blamed for breast cancer, particularly the wired bras. Although many factors increase the risk for breast cancer, there haven’t been any studies (at least from the professional level) proving this belief.

So if you’re about to shop for a black bra, you’re can choose any style in this color and you could hardly go wrong.
