Cotton fabrics were the materials used originally in a bra. Even today, cotton is still a popular make of a bra. Other bra materials vary tremendously largely depending on the design of the product. There are those of pure cotton, or entirely polyester, a combination of both synthetics and natural, and a lot more. But elastic sports bras do not need any metal hooks or closure for this type does not have any opening but will just have to be put on over the head. Padding, straps and cups are integral bra materials as well and that its uses and styles vary not only from the manufacturing companies, but with the styles too.

Following the materials, the design process is the next important aspect of a bra. Brassiere manufacturers, like any other manufacturer companies, must very well supply not only a functional piece of product but also, one that appeals and draw attention to a large crowd of women in whom the finished products will profit from. Before designing any product line of brassieres, the company’s marketing and sales department must first review data and studies about the latest collection of similar products. It is important and helpful to note what kind of such products the public is asking. Materials, colors, types and styles all matter to the consumers. Marketing plans may include talking to retailers and women consumers for any input of ideas or any groups who can offer their views and opinions with regards to product needs.

By the time their research study is done, designers and marketers can work together and discuss what the public wants. They can talk on the designs and materials, like the cup top, side, bottom, central, and back panels that all in all provide the bra’s shape.
